I had to try the new Krispy Kreme Dessert Donut flavors after I missed out on their honey donut promotions.
Unfortunately when I stopped by the nearest shop, they only had 2 of the flavors available.

Strawberry Shortcake
When I first saw this strawberry shortcake donut, it reminded me of the dessert minis they had last year. One of the mini donuts was a Strawberry Cheesecake.
Product Details
A glazed Sour Cream Cake doughnut dipped in strawberry filling and topped with shortbread crumbles, a vanilla buttercream swirl and a strawberry drizzle.

Taste
It didn’t quite taste like strawberry shortcake to me but it was a good donut. It wasn’t too sweet and there was a balanced amount of each ingredient. The crumble on top added a crunchy texture and the strawberry drizzle gave it a hint of fruity sweetness. The frosting on top didn’t add anything significant to the taste.

Blueberry Cheesecake
Unfortunately the blueberry cheesecake donut, left me wanting more and not in a “I can’t stop eating this”.

Taste
Upon tasting this donut I thought the blueberry flavor would hit me right away and there would be lots of filling. It took me several bites, nearing half of the donut, before I could get sufficient filling. What disappointed me the most was the lack of blueberry flavor. I expected the filling to be a creamy blueberry flavor but it was more cream cheese than blueberry. The icing on top however had a stronger blueberry taste. Everything together, the donut tastes like a regular plain cheesecake with blueberry drizzle.

Would I buy these Krispy Kreme Dessert Donuts again?
Answer: No.
Worth Trying?: At least once.
If you like to try new food, there’s no harm in trying these donuts. While Krispy Krem may not have captured the flavors of the original desserts they tried to imitated, these donuts are still tasty and worth a try.
Hopefully I can swing by the shop again and see if they have the other 2 flavors available:
