Review: (東ハト) Tohato Caramerich Pistachio Cookies!

I found these (東ハト) Tohato Caramerich Pistachio Cookies when I was craving a stroopwafel kind of cookie but with a new flavor. I wanted something thin but sweet to eat with my tea.

While Tohato (東ハト) isn’t my favorite Japanese cookie brand, I’ve enjoyed some of their other biscuits and thought these wouldn’t disappoint.

What’s ironic is I don’t like pistachios but I enjoy pistachio baked goods. One of my favorite macaron flavors are the pistachio ones; I really like the extra nutty flavor.

Surely these cookies with pistachio flavored caramel would be just as good.

Tohato (東ハト) Brand

Tohato (東ハト) is a Japanese food company better known for their snacks. One of their most known even outside of Japan is their Caramel Corn chips but they also produce an interesting selection of cookies too.

You can learn more about their products and company history on their website.

Taste

These definitely aren’t stroopwafel but they’re similar. The cookies are thicker than stroopwafel and the texture is closer to a cookie than a thin waffle. The cookies are covered in a salty sweet powder that I blended well with the filling, a mildly sweet and stretchy caramel with a hint of pistachio.

This tasted like a mildly nutty salted caramel cookie.

Would I buy (東ハト) Tohato Caramerich Pistachio Cookies again?

Answer: No.

Worth Trying?: At least once.

If you like pistachios and caramel, you’ll enjoy these cookies. The only reason I wouldn’t buy them again is because I was looking for a thinner and crunchier cookie.
